"First, they were interrogating illegal combattants who were not fighting as part of an organized military structure within the laws of war."

This is the scariest statement I have read in a quite while. How many Americans actually beleive this is true?

Media reports in my country clearly indicated that US army personel believed that 70 to 90% of all prisoners held in Iraq were wrongly detained. These people are just citizens of Iraq not illegal combattants.

The US would gain a lot more support if they actually tried to take the high moral ground. Instead, they have beacons of darkness like Gitmo that they refuse to walk away from. The US declares they have the high moral ground while they are moving away from from it.
