Here I am, Chevy, at the Nevada Democrat Victory Party site in the Brasilia ballroom of the Rio Hotel (the pics are a bit fuzzy as they were shot with my laptop'sinternal camera).
The big question, of couse, is why all those pro-Kerry exit polls have not yet been matched by the actual vote numbers on our TV screens. Two possible answers: it's either because the count from the heavily Kerry urban areas from Miami to Cleveland to Philly have simply not yet been counted... or the exit polls were wrong and it's Four More Years.
My guess... and it's only a guess... is that it's more the former than the latter. As the raw count comes in from Florida and narrows... nothing has yet been tallied from Miami-Dade or Palm Beach. So-called "final exit reports" show Kerry winning in Florida and Oho 52-48. There's also that tantalizing prediction up there by Zogby giving Kerry a 311 electoral vote win.
Strangley enough, it might.. I repeat might be lowly Nevada from where I write that first gives us a strong indication of how this will finish up. The polls just closed here. And with such a sparse population, the votes should be counted here very soon. If there's really a Kerry wave out there, it could break here in the desert and give him this state where he's been trailing in low single digits.
Mostly, I'm starting to get the impression this is going to be a very long night. Or week.
9:17 PM, CST, Texas.... Obama's wife gave a great intro speech. Hope he does well for Ill. Keyes would have been a disaster... and that is from a conservative. Bush leading in Fla, a lot of votes, but Miami-Dade and Palm Beach not in and that WILL go heavily for Kerry. He probably won't pull it out in fla. But Marc could be right, it might be next week or two weeks before we know. Hope not, one way or the other.
100 Percent of votes in in Kentucky... Bunning not declaired winner YET... interesting - could it be that close?

Bet he was sweating.
Fox decrying the problems with the exit polls. What the heck is going on? Maybe they just have to have SOME controversy.

I'm beginning to lean towards my original prediction, which was Bush by a couple of points in the popular vote, and some unknowable amount in the electoral college, followed by one of the most tragic presidencies in American history. Iraq goes south. The economy goes south. Bush panders to the Taliban wing of the GOP on social issues. I predict widespread civil unrest, and sadly violence.

And if I wasn't clear a second Bush term will be a disaster for the GOP, a disaster for the country, and a disaster for the world.
